Awesome, glad you are working on this. Just got the app a couple days ago and was a bit disappointed in it since it has so much potential. Can't wait to try out the changes.

Great work Tim, Eventghost for android works great and any updates can just make a good thing better.

Any time frame for release of updated version?

ASAP I have a few more kinks to work out with the internal server, the layout display, and what information I want to provide to the plugins. It's quite usable at this point, but I need to stabilize it a bit.

I have also now added a few more features:

1) Enduring Events (I'm not really familiar with these, but it should work just like the Network Receiver enduring events using withoutRelease and ButtonReleased)

2) Optional payloads for macros – so you can have a macro for event 'message' with a payload of 'message one', and a macro for event 'message' with a payload of 'message two' that would react two different ways.

3) Applications can generate events internally (with proper permissions), so an app like, say Pandora, could generate an event called 'now_playing' with a payload.

4) The main plugins (Notifications, Load Layouts, Run App, Android Events) have been added to the main package. In addition, there is now a plugin for Forwarding Events – which forwards incoming events out to another server.

5) Macros can be reordered in the list

It would be nice to have the possibility to choose a personnel image as background for every layout, a green light indicator confirming the communication with the server(red if the pc is shutdown), and an quit activity event.

0. Still can't move icons at will on the layout editing screen
1. What happened to “swipe to change layouts”?
2. Know any sources for large collections of free remote control icons?

Hi Jud,

With the new version, enter edit mode by hitting 'Menu', 'Edit Mode'. This
is how you create icons, and you can long click an icon to drag it to a new
location. When your finished editing, hit 'Menu', 'Exit Edit Mode', or hit
the 'Back' button.

Regarding swipe, unfortunately, I removed it for this version – my goals for
the next release are to improve the layout system (including the display) so
hopefully this or something better will return.

I thought that i would let you know that when i upgraded to 1.3 i started having issues when i add an icon to the desktop of my phone. It now tells me that the application is not installed. I reinstalled the newer application one more time but it still tells me that the application is not installed on my phone. I also noticed that the newer version send's an extra u so now i have to change all my commands.

I love this application. The only real problem now is the lack of eventghost configs to control my HTPC. Does anyone know where I can find EventGhost configs ready to go?

I agree, this is one of the downfalls of using EventGhost – it requires
configuration on BOTH sides. As far as the app, there is a 'Layout
Repository' in the Settings screen, which allows you to share/download
layouts for various functions. As far as your EventGhost setup, you are kind
of on your own unfortunately I've thought about the possibility of
automating some of this process, but I don't believe the functionality is in
the EventGhost program… if it was, I could build it into the Android
plugin. It's definitely something I'm looking into making a bit easier in
the future (if possible)…

love this app! one suggestion thought. i want the phone to launch another app when i press on an icon. for example when i press XBMC icon i want the phone to send the event to eventghost and then open XBMC remote.

this can probably be done via the android server in your app, but i do not want another background activity running. this would make your app so much better!

'Actions' on a single macro, which would do what you like. I would like to
point out that in your particular situation though, it is probably better to
have a returned event that launches the app.. this is because it would
confirm that the event was received, before launching the app – at least
until I can add some kind of Success/Fail acknowledgment in the macro. Just
an FYI, I understand not wanting the background service running, and will be
looking for further ways to prevent this (including the new AC2DM available
in Froyo).

Hi, eventghost is great and now there is a tool for android too! i just can say i really appreciate your work! There is only a small thing Segnil already mentioned, I would like to start an application (e.g. wake-on-lan app) on button press. I'm already using your suggested method with winamp (sending event to pc to start winamp, when it starts an event to the phone starts remote for winamp). But with wol, there is no other way of than starting an app directly … but hey you are doing a great job!

thanks for this really nice app I have been playing alot with it the past days. But i have a problem now. I want to use the server-function everywhere. So i installes a dyndns app. The problem is now, that your app only recognizes the internal IP-Address but not the external. This is a huge problem for me, because the server won´t work outside of my one wlan-network.

Do you have any idea, how to fix that ?

Thanks alot for this app. The power and potencial when combined with Tasker for Android it is quite amasing!

Ok here goes, I use this app with XBMC event receiver for Eventghost to send and receive events to and from my Android devices.
I set up the tablet pc to receive events when actions happen in XBMC for Tasker to run a macro on the tablet (Acer Iconia A 500)
which in turn (wakeup2.apk) wakes up the tablet and runs another app (HSTouch for Homeseer) which works like magic. I also set a stuation
whereby if I’m running any media on XBMC and my phone happens to ring, XBMC is paused for the duration of the call. Now to make the story
shot here is my (or others too) problem. I have my desktop computer on and playing music all the time. And I have Eventghost installed on there too.

So is a chance you could be even more kind than you already are and make aother setting in the : Manage Plugins / Android Events / Configure / Sellect the server to send to:- Default Server, Named Server,………………..,
The setting here would be (All Servers) What do you think? Is it possible?

I for one think it would be smashing! You could then send the events to multiple servers and thus mute them all (in my case when phone (Android) rings or off the hook)

Hi, I’m looking for some app to control my NEXA lamp-controls with and EG seems to be a good one for this (going through TELLUS stick in the computer). I just downloaded EG app to my HTC and it works fine but is there possible to have a picture as background in the layout or is it going to be possible soon?
